Einar William Anderson |
- Einar, age 104, was the last surviving WWI veteran in Walworth County. The son of John Peter and Anna Anderson, his family came to Chicago in 1898. He served in the US Army during WWI as a prison guard in France. He worked for the Pullman Company in Chicago before he moved to Lake Geneva in 1915. Einar married Florence Malsch in 1923 in William's Bay, WI. He worked as a caretaker for several estates around Geneva Lake and at the Country Club. He owned and operated Anderson's Grocery Store on Main Street Lake Geneva in the 1940's. In the 1950's he served as a city alderman. He was an avid gardener and was often featured in the local paper giving gardening advice and tips. He was The Grand Marshall of the 1998 Lake Geneva Memorial Day Parade. Einar was survived by 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His wife died in 1981. They had 2 children, a daughter who died in 1977 and a son who died in 1981.
