Medina County Gazette-June 17, 1887: died, at her home, June 12, at 3:20 PM, after an illness of but three days with neuralgia of the heart, aged 72 years, Mrs. Sears, wife of Hon. John Sears. This death is a stroke that is feared, the affliction of her invalid husband all not long survive, as this faithful and devoted wife has in all of these years of his people miss looked after his every comfort.
Medina County Gazette-June 24, 1887: The funeral of Mrs. Sears was held at her home on the 14th, conducted by Rev. Dwyre, assisted by Rev. Foshay. People from abroad were: Levi Severcool & wife, and L. Johnson, Esquire and lady, Charles Beckwith from Elyria; F. M. Ashley and wife of Medina; Gideon Starr and wife of Penfield; Mrs. Frank Watkins of York and others.
